Young woman in a green overcoat and pink hat smiles next to a statue of a dogFor my honors project, I am working with Professor Elaine MacDougall, the Writing Center director, to create a sample syllabus and class schedule for English 321, the class all tutors must take before working in the WC. My focus is on bringing together WC research and research across the English department, and potentially from other departments, on how things like racism, ableism, and other kinds of societal issues/community breaking or building appear in language and rhetoric. In Professor MacDougall’s class this fall, I am getting the chance to conduct field research for my project as I worked with her over the summer to remodel the syllabus and to organize visits from three English department faculty members to speak with the class.
