GRACE REEB

With the help and guidance of Professor Lia Purpura, I am writing a collection of memoir-style personal essays that document my research and reflection on my maternal family history and Asian heritage. In my essays, I will also discuss the results of my research into the memoir genre and critical frameworks surrounding the genre, including critical race theory and feminist theories. A variety of memoirists inspire my writing, especially Asian-American women authors, including Cathy Park Hong and Michelle Zauner. I hope to gain a clearer picture of my ancestor’s forgotten lives and apply literary theories to my personal storytelling.
