I am an English and Ancient Studies major. I am working with Professor Lia Purpura on a dual genre study of Natasha Trethewey’s memoir, Memorial Drive, and her collections of poetry such as Native Guard. In this treatment of Trethewey’s work, I am also writing my own creative essays and poems in response. These pieces will in part explore the personal, national, and global moment that we are living in today during an ongoing pandemic and in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
