I am developing a novel-length creative writing project exploring themes of human emotion and complex relations between people. Though I’m in the process of developing my exact approach to this novel, my ideas involve mosaics of eccentric, interconnected characters working within an overarching plot (such as solving a murder) and relating to a common theme. Another aspect I’m very interested in is unique first-person narrative voices and how they contribute to and characterize a story. I plan to research more examples of how narrative voices are used to further narrative themes and examples of the mosaic story structure. My faculty mentor is Professor Sally Shivnan.
